Shabbat School
The Ruach Israel Shabbat School meets each Shabbat during the second half of the Shabbat service (approximately 11:00 am to noon.) Classes are for children age 3 and up, through grade 6, and are open to members, regular attendees and visitors at no charge. The specific number of classes and the age range of each class depend upon the number and age of students at the beginning of the school year (September).
The objectives of the Shabbat School program at Ruach Israel are:
1) to develop and strengthen the children's faith in and love for G-d;
2) to teach the children their Jewish heritage;
3) to help children understand Messianic Judaism through the life of our Messiah, Yeshua;
4) to build a foundation for living life according to G-d's Word as Messianic Jews.
Through our curriculum, the children learn the Jewish calendar and holidays, basic Hebrew prayers, the Jewish life cycle and its accompanying celebrations, key Mitzvot such as Tzedakah and Chesed Lechem, Jewish history, and the land of Israel. Each class also includes a time of Torah, Haftorah and/or Besorah teaching. Classes are designed to be interesting and fun, with singing, arts & crafts, and games.
Bar and Bat Mitzvah at Ruach Israel
Ruach Israel provides training for Messianic Jewish young people so they may fulfill the mitzvah of being called to the Torah to chant the Hebrew text.
Our Function Hall is a cheerful venue where family and friends can celebrate the fact that in the eyes of the community, a girl becomes a woman and a boy becomes a man.
Adults who may have never made their Bar or Bat Mitzvah may also receive training in Hebrew language and trope (the melodies associated with the Hebrew text) so they can enjoy this meaningful experience.
